BiographyI have been a Commercial Photographer based in Melbourne for 25 years, moving to Torquay with my family 2 years ago. My photographic interests now have more of an art-based criteria. I grew up on the Northern Beaches of Sydney, travelled extensively, lived in Byron for a few years in the ’70’s, and finally moved to Melbourne in 1981. My trips to the ocean during the next 20 years were more about going surfing than taking pictures. Now that I finally live on the coast again, my creative photography has evolved from my passion for the ocean. I seem to have transferred that passion for the ocean to the camera, with a bit less surfing. Digital Photography has opened up a whole new approach for myself, with total control over the end result, and also the technology to produce the rather large panoramic murals. The Surfcoast is a landscape photographer’s dream, with its diverse range of terrain and environments. It has also opened up my interest in photographing other surfers. The large swells that wrap into this coast have their own majesty, but then to be a witness to that event is a privilege, and to try and capture the ’man and nature’ feeling of surfing in that environment has been a satisfying challenge.
