MARK GRAYPORTFOLIOBiographyHistory Born and raised in Melbourne, Australia where he currently resides, Mark Gray worked as a professional web designer for over 6 years. Through his work, Mark understood the importance of high quality imagery and so with a passion for the outdoors, Mark set out to learn how to capture the incredible beauty of the Australian landscape as we see it through our own two eyes - through panoramic landscape photography. What started as a hobby involving extensive travel, rising before dawn and hours of waiting for perfect lighting conditions quickly evolved into a road of discovery where Mark found his true passion. Today, in 2007, the sheer quality and originality of his photographs have stepped up the profile of the business and Mark has become a household name in landscape photography. Photographic Equipment Mark uses a panoramic Fuji G617 professional medium format film camera with 105mm lens. He shoots solely on Velvia Fujichrome film which is famous for its fine grain, extreme sharpness and fantastic colour saturation. Although shooting on medium format film is more time consuming and costly than digital - with only 4 or 8 photos per roll of film, it allows the capture of 6x17cm transparencies (positives instead of negatives) which results in much higher quality photographs that can be printed as big as a billboard without sacrificing quality! Mark almost always shoots with his Manfrotto tripod and cable release for long exposures. His equipment includes a Lee filter system with different strength graduated neutral density filters and a polariser. Visit Mark Gray's Website |
