WENDY MITCHELLPORTFOLIOBiographyInternationally published surfing photographer, Wendy Mitchell, has been capturing local surfers in Torquay since the early seventies. Many of her sought after surfing photos have been published in Tracks, Surfing World, Back Door, windsurfing magazines and various other magazines here and overseas. Wendy has covered most of the Bells Beach contests including 1981, famously known for its “Big Saturday”, the biggest swell and waves ever recorded at an Easter Bells Contest won by Simon Anderson, Australia surfer. The 1981 photos are now included at the Surfcoast Surfing Museum in Torquay in a Display celebrating the Rip Curl bells over its 30 plus years. Wendy decided in 2002 that her work in the surfing industry should take another direction and, using the skills developed in capturing surf action, Wendy developed a new business venture in photography.
